What is the first piece of bad news Desdemona's father receives?

Desdemona's father, Brabantio, isn't having the best of days. First of all, he finds out that his house has been robbed. Apparently, this outrageous criminal act took place in the dead of night and was witnessed by none other than Roderigo and Iago, who just happened to be hanging around in the vicinity.
This "robbery" is a completely bogus claim, of course; it's simply an excuse for Iago to inform Brabantio that his daughter's been having sex with Othello and has eloped with him, against Brabantio's express wishes. As one can imagine, Brabantio is positively apoplectic with rage on hearing the news. In a fit of rage, he calls for his servants and kinsmen to come to his aid and bring him some weapons, as he intends to search every last house until he's found the errant couple.
