I'm having a problem listing an aspect of life that changed under imperialist rule; could you help me?

Imperialism had many impacts, many of which can be argued to be positive or negative, especially when you consider who is being impacted. One consequence of imperialism that had a negative impact on black populations was the European imperialist rule of Africa. Ultimately, the British rule in southern Africa created the country of South Africa in 1910. Following its creation, South Africa was then under white minority rule. This then resulted in the system of Apartheid, which lasted up until the 1990s.
Under Apartheid, the way of life changed for non-whites in South Africa. They were persecuted both socially and economically, barred from attaining certain job positions, attending certain churches, and participating in certain government functions. British and Dutch imperialistic rule was directly responsible for implementing this racial segregation. Although life wasn't easy for many people in Africa before European imperialism, imperialistic rule did not benefit many non-white people, and certainly decreased the quality of life for many.
This is just one example of how life changed under imperialism. Imperialism itself is a very difficult subject to narrow down because, as I stated earlier, it had enormous and far-reaching impacts on global populations. Some results of imperialism might be considered positive; for example, underdeveloped nations saw an increase in economic participation and gained access to new medicines. I would suggest reading Rudyard Kipling's "The White Man's Burden" to get a sense of the ideology that fueled British imperialism (and to some extent, other European conquerors).
