Bim or Bimla Dis is the eldest daughter in the Dis family. She lives in her childhood home in Old Delhi and takes care of the members of her household, especially her mentally challenged brother, Baba; as a result, she often goes through various stressful situations.
She works as a history teacher in a women's college and proudly uses her position as an educator to promote independence, ambition, and creativity. Because of her job and because she is over 40 years old, Bim keeps her style quite modest, traditional, and conservative. However, she has a very lively personality; she is driven and motivated, and often shows her kind, confident, and selfless nature. At the same time, she is portrayed as a woman who is strong, volatile, and sometimes strict.
She is often stuck in the past and believes that she deserves a better and fairer life. In the end, however, she manages to overcome her mild depression and her bitterness and realizes that she deeply loves and cares for her family; she becomes more open, caring, and compassionate, which only shows that her character matures and develops significantly.
