Early childhood is one of the most important periods of a person's life; in fact, it is common knowledge that the brain develops rapidly and significantly during this time, and these developmental changes are mostly affected by the environment in which the child lives and the experiences they go through during the early years of life. By going through these experiences, the child gradually learns how to deal with the realities of the environment and the society and slowly prepares to enter the next major stage of the human life cycle.
This is why it is of utmost importance to have policies, services, and programs which support the wellbeing and welfare of all children around the world. According to The Child Care Acts of 1991 and 2016, the general policies about early childhood care and education (ECCE) implemented by various organizations and governments focus on governance, health and development, social services, education, nutrition, sanitation, and safety and protection of all children and families, with special emphasis on those who are vulnerable and may not receive adequate care. When planning and executing their policies and services, providers must also factor in race, ethnicity, culture, religion, socioeconomic position, gender, disability, and different family structures, as they can significantly influence their decisions. A society that follows these programs and policies is usually considered a politically and economically well-developed society.
