I think a major event is the move from Berlin to the prison camp, but that is out of Bruno's control; therefore, you should pick something like the time Bruno didn't admit to giving Shmuel food. Have Bruno tell the truth. This likely wouldn't have changed much, but it would have further cemented their growing friendship. Another event to pick would be what begins in chapter 18 and 19. Don't have Bruno agree to sneaking into the camp and putting on the prisoner "pajamas." The end result of this is likely that Bruno survives and returns to Berlin.
