In chapter nine, when a bigger giant enters the cave, Sophie hides behind a snozzcumber. This bigger giant is the Bloodbottler, and he's looking for a human to eat. He has heard the BFG talking to someone and thinks the BFG kidnapped a human. So the Bloodbottler starts searching the cave.
Sophie thinks quick and scoops seeds out of the snozzcumber so she can hide inside. Unfortunately, the BFG does not know where Sophie is hiding. The BFG tries to distract the Bloodbottler and get him to leave the cave, so his idea is for the Bloodbottler to taste a bite of the snozzcumber!
Sophie finds herself in the Bloodbottler's mouth, but because of the foul taste of the snozzcumber he spits her out. Sophie lands on the BFG's cloak and is able to hide in its folds until the hungry giant leaves.
This enounter with the Bloodbottler in the cave is significant because the BFG is now determined to make the other giants disappear. He and Sophie will have to make a plan.
