How does Lucy feel about her engagement to Cecil in A Room with a View?

Lucy's not exactly thrilled at her engagement to Cecil, and it's not hard to see why. For one thing, she doesn't really love him, which is a bit of a problem if you're going to get married to someone. And secondly, Cecil has a number of major character flaws that make him far from suitable as a husband. As well as being the most frightful male chauvinist, even by the prevailing standards of the age, he is utterly without true aesthetic sensibility.
To make matters worse, Cecil adopts a proprietary attitude towards Lucy that rankles with this free-spirited young lady. Irrespective of the established social conventions, Lucy is not about to allow herself to be controlled by any man, no matter how outwardly respectable he may be. The fact that Lucy only accepts Cecil's proposal at the third time of asking gives us a clue as to her real feelings for him. As soon as she agrees to marry him, she immediately regrets it.
