What is the author's point of view and purpose in I Am Malala?

In a memoir that draws on her diary entries, Malala Yousafzai writes in first person. Although she contextualizes her personal story within the events that occurred in her native Pakistan during her lifetime, she focuses on her own experiences. While she was attending school, education for girls was strongly discouraged. Even though she was a child, her advocacy for education earned her recognition. After the Taliban issued a death threat, a gunman shot her while she was going home from school. In I Am Malala, she offers her own biography as well as additional information about education, to further her purpose in advocating for education, especially for girls and especially in countries where it is discouraged or not well supported, as well as to encourage others not to be silenced by violent opposition.
