When was Oliver Twist born?

Oliver Twist is Charles Dickens's second novel and centers around the life of a poor boy with the titular name. Dickens's novel argues against many of London's social problems plaguing the city during the nineteenth century, including child labor practices.
In the novel, Oliver was born in the 1830s. His mother, whose name is never known, dies almost immediately after his birth, and he is forced to live a hard life in a London workhouse—a place for those who cannot afford to take care of themselves financially. The novel was published in installments (many novels of the time were serial novels spread out over several years) from 1837 to 1839, making the novel's setting focus on the London Dickens and his readers experienced every day.
