When did Maleeka start working in the office?

Maleeka gets into a fight with Daphne. Daphne caught who she thought was Maleeka kissing her boyfriend. It turned out that it wasn't Maleeka, but Char, the perpetual troublemaker. In any case, the next time Daphne sees Maleeka, she grabs her by the hair and starts beating her up. After Daphne manages a few well-aimed slaps in Maleeka's direction, the Principal and Miss Saunders break up the fight. Clearly, some sort of punishment is in order, but what?
Miss Saunders comes up with the novel idea of making Maleeka do unpaid work in the school office after hours. Maleeka's mom's quite relieved to hear this, and she is also very grateful to Miss Saunders for showing an interest in her daughter. But Maleeka's not happy at all; she doesn't think that a teacher she still regards as a "freak" taking an interest in her will help her fit in at school.
