What did Mrs. Who have on that made her look like an owl in The Wrinkle In Time?

In Chapter 2, Mrs. Who's "enormous glasses (catch) the light . . . and (shine) like an owl's eyes." In other words, the reflection of the light in Mrs. Who's glasses makes it appear as if she has two enormous eyes, like the eyes of an owl.
This is a fitting description for Mrs. Who and also an ironic one. It is a fitting description because owls are often depicted as wise animals (in Greek mythology, for example, the goddess of wisdom, Athena, is accompanied by an owl) and Mrs. Who also appears to be wise. She often, for example, quotes famous thinkers. However, one reason why Mrs. Who often quotes famous thinkers is because she is unable to articulate her thoughts with her own words. In this sense, she is perhaps intellectually lacking, making the allusion to the owl a little ironic.
