What was buried in the lake in Holes?

In chapter 44, Stanley and Zero sneak back to the camp in search of Kissin' Kate Barlow's buried treasure, which is what the Warden has been trying to find for decades at Camp Green Lake. The boys end up digging up a suitcase but are caught in the act by the Warden, Mr. Pendanski, and Mr. Sir. Fortunately, Stanley's lawyer arrives, and they discover that Stanley's name is written on the suitcase, which happened to belong to Stanley's great-grandfather. After Stanley and Zero leave the camp, they end up opening the suitcase and discover jewels, deeds, stocks and promissory notes inside. The boys end up making around one million dollars each from selling the stocks, and Stanley purchases his family a new home, while Zero uses his money to hire private investigators to find his missing mother.
