Evaluate several major points of convergence among the research on traits and skills, behaviors, influence processes, and situational variables in leadership.

Research on leadership styles and abilities generally focuses on a person’s internal qualities, the situations they are in, the behaviors they use, and the process by which they influence others. Though these are separate variables, they certainly coincide in a number of strategic areas.
Obviously, behaviors will overlap significantly with skills and traits because you will act on what you are able to do. Additionally, behaviors will lead to influential processes. When leading others, they will be influenced by and follow your actions, so the behaviors you demonstrate for others will influence them to take various actions.
Situational differences will also dictate different skills and behaviors. It would be inappropriate to deal with motivating an underperforming employee in the same way you would deal with an overachieving one, and it would be unsuccessful. Tailoring your behaviors and using appropriate skills in each situation results in more effective leadership.
