What are some quotes about Jonas learning love in The Giver?

In Chapter 5, Jonas describes an erotic dream involving Fiona, his closest friend. The community refers to these feelings as stirrings, which are emotional and sexual desires that occur in puberty and are associated with romantic love. Jonas's mother says he has to start taking a pill. When he becomes Receiver of Memory, Jonas is exempt from taking pills that suppress emotions and sexual desire within the community.
Jonas begins to experience feelings that he cannot share with others. In chapter 17, Jonas wishes his friends could experience life with love and emotional connections:

He felt such love for Asher and for Fiona. But they could not feel it back, without the memories.

Jonas develops an emotional connection with Gabriel, who can also receive memories. In chapter 14, Jonas accidentally transmits a memory to Gabriel. This is the beginning of his loving familial connection to Gabe. Jonas develops a protectiveness over Gabriel like an older brother, which is highlighted in Chapter 22:

He wept because he was afraid now that he could not save Gabriel. He no longer cared about himself.

Jonas places the life of Gabriel over his own, indicating this loving bond they share.
