If you were to pursue an advanced degree in Psychology, which of the six main perspectives would you find the most interesting? Why?

There are six main perspectives in psychology: biological, psychoanalytical, behavioral, humanistic, cognitive, and evolutionary. In order to choose which perspective is most interesting to you, it is important to understand the differences between each one. Behavioral psychology is concerned with environmental stimuli and individual response; it is commonly associated with Pavlov. Psychoanalytical psychology is concerned with the unconscious mind and is associated with Freud. Humanism is concerned with the whole person, inner feelings, and free will, and it is associated with Rogers and Maslow. Cognitive psychology is concerned with the mind and how the brain receives and stores information. It is most associated with Wundt. Biological psychology is concerned with the effect genes have on our behaviors and is associated with Darwin. Evolutionary psychology is concerned with how we adapt to our environments and how that shapes our behavior.
If I was to choose an area I find most interesting, I would choose humanistic psychology. I am interested in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the concept of self-actualization. I appreciate the importance that humanistic psychology places on having control of your own behavior.
