Some interesting facts about anemia are as follows:
1) Anemia is commonly caused by iron deficiency in the body. Lack of vitamin B12 is another cause.
2) It occurs when the body has less than the normal number of red blood cells.
3) It can also occur when red blood cells do not contain sufficient hemoglobin.
4) Anemic people do not get a sufficient amount of oxygen to all the cells in their body.
5) Anemic people may feel tired. Other symptoms may include dizziness, headaches, shortness of breath, lack of energy, pale skin, and cold hands and feet.
6) There are several types of anemia, and they all can have long-lasting adverse effects if not properly treated.
7) People of all ages are susceptible to anemia. However, people who menstruate are at the highest risk, since they lose a certain amount of blood (and therefore iron) every month.
8) A diet rich in iron can help overcome anemia. Medication or supplements may also be needed to supplement dietary changes.
Hope this helps.
