There are several challenges facing big corporations like FedEx, a company that will have to rise to the challenges of the twenty-first century if it wants to survive and thrive. FedEx is in the delivery sector; therefore, technological innovation will certainly impact their ability as a company to produce revenue. Competitors like Amazon aren't simply delivery companies. Amazon is a platform that also invests in technology. The company has plans to shift toward autonomous delivery, using driverless vehicles and drones in the coming years. FedEx will have to take steps to invest in technology or make sure that they have access to the same technology to compete. If they fail to do so, they face a productivity crisis.
Another crisis facing corporations, especially those in the delivery and transportation sector, is climate change. Global supply chains will be altered by changing weather patterns, and while melting ice caps might lead to new routes in some places, hurricanes and flooding threaten to upend on-time production.
