Here are some fun facts about William Henry Harrison, 9th president of the United States:
He is, to date, the shortest serving president in American history, lasting just thirty-one days in office before he died of what's believed to be typhoid fever.
It's generally believed that he contracted his fatal illness on the day of his inauguration. It was a cold, wet day in March, yet the new president chose not to wear an overcoat or hat. Big mistake!
William Henry Harrison was the paternal grandfather of Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd president of the United States, who served from 1889 to 1893.
On the day of his inauguration, Harrison was the oldest man to have assumed the office of president. His record stood for another 140 years until it was beaten by Ronald Reagan.
