In the book Prince Caspian, by C. S. Lewis, there’s a part where the citizens of the magical kingdom of Narnia, including both humans and animals, are dancing around the lion called Aslan.
The Narnians do many things during the dance, which is called a romp by a youth. Examples include an “old and enormously fat” man who rides around on a donkey. This man calls out, “Refreshments! Time for refreshments.”
He keeps falling off his donkey until other Narnians help him back onto it again. The donkey walks around on its hind legs when the old man isn’t on it.
One of the children who travels into Narnia from Earth, Lucy, says in chapter 11 that the romp almost looked like a game children play, like Blind Man’s Bluff, except everyone, not just the one who was “it,” acted like they were blindfolded.
The general sense is of a chaotic scene with a lot of running and dancing around. Eventually, Lucy identifies the old man as Bacchus, the Greek God of Wine.
