What do you expect from a book that has been labeled as a war memoir? From a book labeled as war literature? What kinds of stories do you anticipate reading? What kinds of issues do you expect will be discussed?

A memoir is defined as a historical account based on personal experience. So, if I was reading a war memoir, I would expect it to have been written by someone who has experienced a war firsthand. This could be somebody like a soldier, a fighter pilot or a prisoner of war.
If, for example, I was reading a war memoir about World War I, I would expect to read accounts of what life was like in the trenches and about the fear that existed around the time that the orders were given.
If you are reading war literature, then you could be reading a fictional or historical account of the conflict. War literature often includes poetry. Sticking with the example of World War I, you could look at the poetic works of Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, or Rupert Brooke for some great examples.
